DIGITAL/IT OFFICER

This is a high-responsibility role because a Forex Bureau is a regulated financial institution. That means the IT/Digital Officer is not just a “social media person” — they are part brand strategist, part cybersecurity officer, part compliance support, and part technical operations assistant.

1️. JOB SPECIFICATION

A. Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Information Technology
    • Computer Science
    • Information Systems
    • Business Computing with major in Digital Marketing
    • Or related field
  • Professional certifications (added advantage):
    • Google Digital Marketing Certification
  • Cybersecurity certifications (CompTIA Security+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker)
    • CCNA (Networking)
    • Social Media Marketing Certification
    • ISO 27001 Lead Implementer / Internal Auditor
    • CISM or CISSP
    • Microsoft / Cisco certifications
    • ITIL Foundation

B. Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in:
    • Corporate IT Support
    • Digital Marketing & Social Media Management
    • Website Administration
    • Cybersecurity implementation
  • Experience in a financial institution, Forex Bureau, Bank, or FinTech is an added advantage.

Age: 30 years and below

C. Technical Skills Required

  • Website management (WordPress or similar CMS)
  • Social media management tools (Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, YouTube Studio)
  • Basic graphic design (Canva, Adobe Suite)
  • Video recording and editing (for YouTube & promotional content)
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals (firewall, antivirus, phishing awareness, backups)
  • SEO and Google Analytics
  • Google Business Profile management
  • Basic networking knowledge
  • Data backup & disaster recovery procedures
  • Email system administration
  • Understanding of AML/CFT compliance digital risks
  • Technical report drafting of Incidents, KPIs and Regulatort required reports

D. Personal Attributes

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and passionate about digital marketing

2️. JOB DESCRIPTION (DETAILED DUTIES)

1. Digital Brand Promotion & E-Marketing

  • Develop and implement digital marketing strategy aligned to company goals.
  • Manage and grow company presence on:
    • Facebook
    • Instagram
    • LinkedIn
    • X (Twitter)
    • YouTube
  • Create engaging financial education content.
  • Run paid online campaigns compliant with financial advertising regulations.
  • Monitor brand reputation online and respond professionally.
  • Optimize SEO to increase website traffic and forex visibility.
  • Design posters, graphics, and promotional materials. 

2. Website Management & Updates

  • Maintain and update company website:
    • Daily exchange rates update
    • News and announcements
    • CSR reports
  • Ensure website uptime and security.
  • Implement SSL certificates and security plugins.
  • Monitor Google Analytics and prepare traffic reports.
  • Ensure website complies with Bank of Uganda digital communication guidelines.

3. Google Business Profile Management

  • Manage and optimize Google Business Profile.
  • Post weekly updates and rate changes.
  • Respond to customer reviews professionally.
  • Ensure business location accuracy.
  • Monitor online ratings and improve customer trust.

4. Corporate Business Activation & CSR Events

  • Organize and promote corporate activation events.
  • Handle digital promotion for CSR activities.
  • Cover events with:
    • Photography
    • Videography
    • Live social media coverage
  • Upload and archive event materials.
  • Produce post-event reports with media analytics.

5. YouTube Video Creation & Management

  • Plan and produce educational Forex videos.
  • Record exchange rate updates.
  • Edit videos professionally.
  • Upload content with SEO optimization.
  • Monitor YouTube analytics.
  • Ensure compliance with financial advertising policies.

 6. Cybersecurity & Data Protection

  • Implement cybersecurity best practices:
    • Minimum Security Controls
    • Antivirus management
    • Firewall monitoring
    • Strong password policies
    • Two-factor authentication
  • Monitor phishing risks.
  • Conduct staff awareness training.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly backups.
  • Maintain disaster recovery documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Data Protection & Privacy Act (Uganda)
    • AML/CFT risk controls (digital aspect)

7. IT Operations Support

  • Assist IT Manager in:
    • Network maintenance
    • Hardware troubleshooting
    • System upgrades
    • Vendor coordination
  • Maintain IT asset inventory.
  • Monitor CCTV & system security.
  • Ensure POS systems function properly.
  • Maintain exchange rate display systems.
  • Document IT incidents and resolutions.

8. Compliance & Risk Support

  • Ensure digital communications comply with Bank of Uganda regulations.
  • Keep records of online campaigns.
  • Support audit by providing IT documentation.
  • Maintain log records for:
    • Website changes
    • Security incidents
    • Backup reports
  • Prevent reputational risk exposure online.
